I'm a Landmark

Today while running on Broadway I overhead a passing girl's phone conversation. Because I'm such a fast runner I only caught a snippet of what she was saying -but luckily I also have supper hearing. She was trying to meet up with someone, and to help the person on the other line she asked "do you see the guy in the white t-shirt?"

I was the only other person on the sidewalk, and I was wearing a white t-shirt!

This girl was obviously using me as a landmark to give her friend directions. I'm glad I could be of unknowing service. But this blog is not about helping others, it's about invading privacy.

I didn't intend to eavesdrop, but just like when someone can sleep through an alarm clock and wake at the whisper of their name, I noticed someone was talking about me. This happens all the time and can be a very useful social tool.

What I can't stand is when someone makes outlandishly obscure remarks and expects the correct recipient to respond. The most common occurrence of this is the missed connections on craigslist.org. I get a real kick out of the common post "you should know if this applies to you." Really? How? Do you realize how many people have computers and access to craigslist.org?

So no, I'm not going to post a missed connection on craigslist.org about the girl on broadway who was on her cell phone.

Ha, I remember too. I don't think that was too obscure -we did work together for a short while. Remember when you called me the first time and my house was on fire? Good times.
